Cameron Dezen spent most of her tortured youth in posh, suburban, Tenafly New Jersey, before fleeing to New York City to attend the High School of the Performing Arts as a vocal major. During this mayhem several key events occurred:
1. Her little brother got on Broadway and Cameron was jealous
2. Her parents got divorced
3. She learned to write poetry
Rather than delve into first kisses, bad sunburns, and other awkward disasters let’s jump ahead to post-college, New York City. Cameron, a precocious grad, forms a band to play clubs like Fez and The Mercury Lounge with gifted backing musicians like Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley, Beth Orton) and Ted Hudson (The Damnwells.) She releases her first solo album made mostly on a Roland 505 Groovebox, a dented AKG mic, and Digital Performer. People like it.
Some of those people work at Warner Brothers records. Those nice people try to sign her to a deal but it falls apart and Cameron starts her own label: Love Lost Records.
Then some other people start to like it and they work at NYLON, THE VILLAGE VOICE, and TOWER RECORDS. Pretty soon she’s on the radio (WFUV and XM Satellite Radio in New York, WERS and WBRS in Boston, KPFT in Houston, and FUJIYAMA radio in Japan- Cool!) After that she does a half hour taped special for MHZ TV Networks in DC, and pretty soon it will air nationally. Before that she sings at THE US OPEN and lots of famous people are there like Paul McCartney, and Christie Brinkley.
That takes us to today, where a couple of key events come into play.
1. She got married
2. She married her best friend and producer Matt Hammon
3. She lives in Texas
4. She started a new album, Love+Rescue
Basically Cameron’s goals in life are happiness, peace, a family someday, a record deal, and a publishing deal.
